General notesBOOKINGS: deposit of 50%, to be paid by cheque at time of booking, remainder to be settled at least 6 weeks before departure. Accommodation, any guides and meals must be pre-paid in England in Sterling. You may not arrive before 4pm on the first day of your stay and must leave before 11am on the last day.TRAVEL: The cost does not cover flights, transfers etc, and it is the duty of the guest to arrange their own travel. Direct flights are available from London Heathrow to Bucharest Otopeni airport daily by both British Airways and Tarom. Duration 3 1/2 hrs. Indirect flights are available on Austrian Airlines via Vienna. It is also possible to fly to Sibiu via Munich. CARS: there are several car hire firms at Otopeni Airport and also one at Sibiu. Details on www.cars4rent.ro The car journey from Bucharest to the villages is 4-5 hours, from Sibiu 1 1/2 - 2hrs. HOUSES: The houses and everything in them are the property of MET. Guests are expected to leave the property in the state it was when they arrived and to report and pay for any breakages. INSURANCE: The MET is not responsible for insurance. It is necessary that personal travel insurance is taken out. CANCELLATION: If you cancel a booking at any time, you will not be refunded the deposit. If you cancel less than 6 weeks before the beginning of your stay, and have paid the full amount, we will endeavour to re-let the property and if successful will return to you the amount appropriate (less the initial deposit). We may have to cancel a booking before the date on which it begins. We would only expect to do this for essential building work or for some other reason unforeseen by us at the time of the booking. In this unlikely event we will refund in full all money received by us at the time your booking was accepted, but will not have any liability beyond this. SHOPPING: Sighisoara, equidistant between the Viscri and Malancrav areas, has a wide range of shops. For Viscri, Crit and Cloasterf villages, the nearest shopping is Rupea with a market on Fridays. For Malancrav go to Laslea, Medias or Sighisoara. TIPPING: This is not encouraged. However, 10 Lei to the housekeeper is adequate if so wished. A small gift is equally good. WALKS: Basic maps available from MET in London, large scale Viscri, Crit, Cloasterf and Mesendorf areas - £18. Guide £20 a day (pre-paid in England). LANGUAGE: In both the Viscri and the Malancrav area, it is possible to employ an English-speaking interpreter to accompany the traveller by the half day, or by the day.
